Beef 'n Bean Burger Aussie-style

We went looking for a burger that would be a "real.. filler upper".. We wanted a burger that filled a big hearty bun.. and had to have lot's
of juicy flavor.. and yet not break the bank on POINTS. Today we are sharing a recipe that brings an Australian flare.. using pickled beets.. an Aussie tradition. You will note that the texture of the burger is a great combination of lean beef and healthy bean. ENJOY!

Ingredients:

Non Stick Cooking Spray
3/4 cup Red Onion, finely chopped
1 - 15oz can of Red Kidney Beans, rinsed and drained
1 pound Lean Ground Beef - (93% lean)
2 slices of Oroweat Double Fiber Bread
2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
2 teaspoons Fresh Rosemary, finely chopped
6 - Large Oroweat Whole Grain Hambuger Buns *note directions below to Trim Ur Buns technique
12 - Pickled Beet Slices
12 - Tomato Slices, thinly sliced
Lettuce Leafs
Ketchup
Mustard
Mrs Dash's Salt Free Seasoning Blend - Table Blend
Fresh Ground Pepper

Directions:

In a non stick skillet sweat your red onions until they appear transparent.

In a food processor put both pieces of bread in and pulse to create breadcrumbs and move them to a medium size bowl.
Back to the food processor, put the beans in and pulse until they are coarsely chopped and also add them to the bowl with the bread crumbs. Combine ground beef, onion, tomato paste and rosemary and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate mixture for 30-60 minutes. Divide mixture into 6 well formed patties approx 6oz each.

Now to Trim Ur Buns:

Trim Ur Buns

Each of these burger buns would calculate to 3 POINTS* each.. so TMG has come up with a clever way to "safe"
you POINTS* and still have a large hefty burger.. With a sharp knive take only the bun tops and slice them in half so that you now have created a top and bottom all from just the tops!! Savings? Yes now you have just CUT your points in half!! So Trim Ur buns and people won't even notice. Freeze the bottoms for a 1.5 POINT" Bread Pizza Crust for another meal!!

Preheat your grill to a high heat. Before grilling give each patty a nice "shake or two" of your salt free seasoning and pepper and give your burgers a light spray of non stick spray and place direct on the grill. Grill for
5-6 minutes on each side until cooked to wellness desired.. (suggested for beef - internal temp of 160°). Towards the grilling of the second side of the burgers, lightly toast the buns on the grill.. this just takes a brief minute.

Assemble burgers on a plate with lettuce leaf, pickled beets, and tomato slices. Accompany with condiments.
ENJOY!!
